Corns and plantar warts are common foot conditions treated by foot clinics:
- Corns: Corns are small, thickened areas of skin that develop on the feet due to repeated friction or pressure, often on the toes or sides of the feet. Treatment options include:
- Padding or Insoles: To reduce pressure and friction.
- Debriding & Enucleating- Removal of the thickened skin by a podiatrist.
- Salicylic Acid: Topical application to help soften and remove the corn.
- Plantar Warts: Plantar warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) infecting the skin on the soles of the feet. They can be painful and may have a rough, grainy appearance. Treatment options include:
- Salicylic Acid: Applied topically to dissolve the wart over time.
- Cryotherapy: Freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen to destroy it.
- Surgical Removal: In cases where other treatments fail, the wart may be surgically removed by a podiatrist.
